The larger cross-sectional area of the heat pipe (i.e. the larger diameter of the heat pipe) will allow a larger amount of steam to be transferred from the evaporator to the condenser. When the heat pipe temperature is lower than the freezing point of the working fluid, the heat pipe will not work. Freezing and thawing is a design problem, which may destroy the sealed joint of heat pipe when placed vertically. Proper engineering and design can overcome this limitation.
