How should the radiator be selected?

Article Origin:Company news Source:kefu time:2023-9-6 click:356

Radiator is a device or instrument that transfers the heat generated by machinery or other appliances in time to avoid affecting their normal operation. Common radiators can be divided into air cooling, heat pipe radiator, liquid cooling, semiconductor refrigeration, compressor refrigeration and so on. So how should the radiator be selected?

Original heat dissipation cannot be pressed

For example, Intel’s full tethered K CPU has no heat dissipation, and AMD’s 3950x and above have no heat dissipation. It’s better to save some cost. Although the original heat dissipation of 10400 can be suppressed, the temperature is also high. AMD’s ghost prism has good heat dissipation performance and high appearance value. The only disadvantage is that it’s noisy. Playing games is like someone driving a train, Therefore, it is necessary to replace a radiator.

The astigmatic CPU itself does not have a radiator, so you also need to buy another radiator.

Radiators are generally divided into air cooling and water cooling

Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Air cooling is safer, simpler and the upper limit of performance is relatively low. Water cooling has great advantages in appearance and performance. The disadvantage is that it is relatively expensive and there is a risk of liquid leakage. However, the probability of liquid leakage of water cooling is very small.

In terms of subdivision, air cooling also has down pressure type, which is more suitable for itx small chassis, while tower type is suitable for ordinary chassis. Water cooling is also divided into integrated water cooling and split water cooling, which are common.

How to choose a radiator

Take air cooling for example, fins, heat pipes, fans and materials will affect the performance of radiators

The thicker the fins, the more, the better the heat dissipation

The more heat pipes, the coarser, the better the heat dissipation

The larger the fan, the better the heat dissipation. Attention should also be paid to the fan noise here

The base material, that is, the side contacting the CPU, has different heat pipe direct contact and copper bottom materials, and the heat dissipation capacity is also different

To sum up, the better the material, the better the heat dissipation capacity

In other words, the more expensive the better. The same is true for water cooling.

CPU has a parameter TDP (thermal design power consumption). The simple explanation is that the heat emitted by the CPU working normally at the standard frequency. The radiator manufacturer designs the radiator according to TDP. If the original radiator fails, the original radiator usually sticks to the TDP value design. In normal use, the power consumption of the CPU is greater than TDP, so we only need to select a radiator larger than TDP when selecting the radiator (overclocking another word).
